Green & Public Spaces

The Talbot Group will develop Barkley Village with abundant natural open space, parks, and public art. A network of trails and enhanced pedestrian corridors increase walkability, while inclusive events, activities, and community gatherings create a welcoming sense of place. The Village integrates thoughtful architecture, landscape design, food cultivation, and opportunities to connect with nature.

Equitable Housing

The Talbot Group will build a diverse mix of quality residential housing types throughout the Village, matching the diverse needs of the local population. In doing so, we cultivate an equitable and accessible neighborhood where all residents can flourish. The neighborhood is safe and thoughtfully designed with walkable proximity to parks, amenities and entertainment.

Sustainable Buildings

The Talbot Group will adopt environmentally responsible practices, incorporating sustainability in building design, construction, and operations. Through site-wide systems and connectivity, the Talbot Group strives to increase resource-use efficiency. Village design enhances health, wellness, and the environment throughout the life-cycle of buildings and beyond.

Talbot Group is a family-owned company that has developed the 250-acre Barkley neighborhood over the last 30 years. Siblings Jane and Stowe Talbot are actively involved in the planning and design process. The company specializes in a vertically integrated development process: entitling the land, planning the build-out, overseeing construction, and retaining ownership and management of the majority of completed projects. The company has divested some of its parcels to partners and owner-operators who have complemented and enriched the neighborhood. Of the 40 buildings that currently make up this urban village, Talbot Group maintains ownership and management of 25. These encompass office, retail, entertainment and residential uses. As the area continues to grow over the coming decades, the company strives to build a diverse, sustainable, mixed-use neighborhood that will serve the community for generations to come.

Giving Back

The Talbot Group has a long history of philanthropic giving and supporting charitable organizations in the local community. To augment our commitment to designing and developing a model sustainable urban village where everyone belongs, Talbot’s corporate giving focuses on five distinct areas:

By partnering with organizations to hold fundraising events, we are able to center Barkley Village as a place where serving the larger community matters. In 2019 alone, along with our partners, we were able to raise $.

A committee made up of ownership and staff oversees the company’s charitable giving efforts. This committee meets on a quarterly basis to review any donations requests and plans for future giving.
